Cloudbusting 67

Evening comes with a complete blanket
of the small altocumulus puffy ones
I´ve had a lot of these lately
and they are not even from the same day
There used to be a real school here
Now there is just some odd shack
for teenagers night activities

Cloudbusting 61 + porcupine

Run across a dandelion comet field
Sweet metal alien porcupine behind me
In the new light of the morning
Minor miracles and other sparkling effects
Never enough time
to appreciate the simple things

Cloudbusting 59

House in the clouds
A distant memory from summer
Sailing away to full horizon
Future with a rich texture

Again, it´s too difficult to choose the right title

Cloudbusting 58

And I've seen people conduct lightning down to a summer's day
And I've seen nations playfully hurl snowballs packed with stones and clay
And I know rain inside your head can seriously put a stop to play
But no matter what the weather, you and the clouds will still be beautiful

XTC - You and the clouds will still be beautiful. Lyrics by Andy Partridge

Altocumulus from yesterday morning. Mostly sunny day.

Cloudbusting 57

Sun disappears behind Espoo skyline at 10pm. Finally a sunset/sunrise. This blog had been so blue and white for a long time that it needed some other colours too. I´m not usually out at 10 pm when the sun is setting or 4am when the sun is rising. It will change in autumn. I expect to have more yellow and red colours then.

Cloudbusting 56 + some 3D

A quick material, modeling and lighting study in 3Ds max that turned out to be quite good. Like details of two Henry Moore sculptures out on a field...or just floating above earth like this stuff normally does.

Cloudbusting 55

I´m not a deeply religious person, I admit that. If I study the nature more and more it´s inevitable sometimes to wonder the many forms of life. Sacred, holy and pure...can´t escape it. The joy of seeing another day in full colour.

Cloudbusting 54

I spent most of the sunny saturday painting the fences and walls. There was some great cirrus paintings in the sky too. Cloudy and rainy in the evening.

Cloudbusting 53

Lately I have been enjoying the books of David Mitchell. He is an english writer, whose books capture the world in their own way. His massive tome Cloud Atlas was a complex and fascinating collection of stories. I´m still thinking about what it all meant, it left so many things unanswered. I might have to read it again some day. Now I´m in the middle of his other book Black Swan Green, which is more simple, yet it has same kind of dreamy structure.

Cloudbusting 51

It´s strange how I can put some things aside for years and then when I´m inspired again it´s natural to continue where I left. Like the years in between never happened. Have I wondered that before in this blog? Can´t recall, the format of blog is so forgiving. All the old scribblings fade away and are seldom seen. It´s not a huge obstacle like writing a book.

Cloudbusting 50 + UFO shapes

50 already? 50´s...hmmm...that reminds me of UFO´s. Why UFO´s are always portrayed as flying saucers? Even in new movies, like Independence Day, the form of the ship is mostly round. I know that in the 50´s it was easy to take a hubcap and a metal can and put them together and hang those from strings and, bingo, you had an ufo. Ed Wood did it so masterfully in Plan B from outer space, eh eh. These days the image of round flying saucer is so pressed in our minds that the new UFO´s have to be round too. When I think about the space travel, round form is not the most compact form for such a demanding task as space travel. A liftoff from any planet is hard to do with such an unaerodynamic shape. A regular round house is really hard to live in and decorate. I know that round houses exist, I´ve seen them. Where to put all the stuff when every wall is curved? This could have been an underlined statement how superior the aliens are. Even when they travel to distant galaxies they can luxuriously waste space in their vehicles just because it looks great. Just wondering...

Cloudbusting 49

I remember going to this exhibition of belgian painter Rene Magritte, one of my favourite artists. I couldn´t get so excited about it at the time, 1991 or something. Maybe it was the long travel to Belgium and the scorching july heat that drained me. I came out of it thinking that most of the paintings looked better in books than they did in real life. That´s probably true. You can view the paintings from a book when you are feeling good. Photos of paintings have brighter colours than actual paintings as the photos have been processed a little. All the distracting surrounding elements are removed. If I´ve seen some painting before in a book, it can disappoint in real life as it doesn´t meet the expectations.

Magritte has lot of clouds, but those aren´t real clouds. His clouds float mostly without a horizon, evenly spread out and in similar sizes like a wallpaper texture. Almost like here.

Cloudbusting 46

Some days ago I was informed that there was a company that manufactures their own clouds to be used as commercials. It was just an internet joke. I don´t even bother to provide a link, it was so stupid. At first I was disappointed that the use was for commercials. All the ad space is already taken so why not take the air that is still free. I´m just a lowly slave of the advertisement industry. I don´t mind that they would use clouds for commercials, because where else would they get money for such a hobby (if it even existed in the first place)? It´s a fascinating and bonkers idea to create your own cloud. Why would you? There are so many already, and they are so much better. Fakes will always be exposed in the end. Some people have only commercial value in their mind. The only thing why they would see a new moon landing is to use the moon for commercials. I just would like to see some other way to get money for artistic endeavours except commercials, but what can I say, I´m just a whore of the commercial industry as well. Where was I heading with my flow...to the lonely stretch of the black forests...

Cloudbusting 43

I have a TV
Stereo with a turntable
2 CD-players and a portable CD-player
Computer and a laptop
Printers and lots more
3 digital cameras, 7 old ones
couple of simple mobile phones
I have so much
but no iPod
or a cellphone with too many functions
So far I have resisted
but not for long
I want so much more
although I don´t need those
