Old main post office of Helsinki. It seems Itella, formerly known as Post, is trying out the really old method to send messages.

Cloudbusting 113

Viagra, Cialis, mortgages, nearly free office software, Scarlett Johanson nude pics, paypal phishing, male organ enlargements, Nigerian letters...you name it. Score of july was 374 emails, 6 of them with real substance. That makes 368 spam emails in 28 days, which makes an average of 13,1 spam emails in a day. Steady work rate during summer for spammers. Most of the telephone spammers are still on vacation and will probably come back to "work" next week. Local insurance-companies, magazines, it-services and cleaning services rely mostly on telephone spam.

Cloudbusting 112

First day at work since the end of June. It´s going to be easy the first week and like a soft landing to harsh realities. Anyway, I´m ready and fired up. Bring it on , wooohaa!

Cloudbusting 110 + hip flask

Some buildings just look good easily in photographs. I was quite happy with these photos without editing them in any way. These houses are known as hip flask (taskumatti)- houses, because of their shape. There is 4 almost identical houses in Tapiola, Espoo. Designed by Viljo Revell in late 50´s and completed in 1961. They are like birds in the sky of fantasy and belong to another optimistic time.

When waters rise in autumn people say it´s the climate change
When waters drop in autumn people say it´s the climate change
When it doesn´t snow in winter people say it´s the climate change
When it snows a lot in winter people say it´s the climate change
When the spring is warm and gentle people say it´s the climate change
When the spring is cold and raw people say it´s the climate change
When it´s hot and dry in the summer people say it´s the climate change
When it´s wet and windy in the summer people say it´s the climate change

All I know for sure is that the only constant in our lives is
ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Rainbusting 3

Back and forth the highway
to the recycling station
Rain slapping the insect infested windshield
Dumping the relics of my long lost bright future
Something I should have done so long time ago

Cloudbusting 103 + Rumar

Welcome to Rumar weather station in the island of Korppoo.
WMO 02933 LPNN 0021 Latitude 6007 Longitude 2138 Altitude 0061, start date: 15.08.1997
Admission fee is 2 euros and I have paid it already. It probably goes to some good environmental cause.

View towards east over the dry and flat woods of the island. Temperature close to +30C. This area in the archipelago far from the mainland gets the least amount of rain in Finland.

Weather radar is used to measure rain and snow. I´m not sure, but this simple looking gadget probably does something like that.

Cloudbusting 102

Summer is not about new musical adventures. In summer I listen to stuff that I have been digging during the last 11 months. Recently it has been these:

All About Eve: Ultraviolet
Early 90´s jamming rock pop with a hint of psychedelia. A real forgotten gem.

My Morning Jacket: Evil Urges
Falsetto funk Prince meets southern rock. Odd but enjoyable experience.

Goldfrapp: Seventh Tree
Mainstream electronica pop meets folk. Pure heavenly bliss.

Cloudbusting 101 + Knipan

Restaurant Knipan in Tammisaari. Built in 1867. This kind of houses that are done on top of water look so cool. I wish they had done more this kind of houses over 100 years ago. It would be totally impossible to built one like this now. There is probably around 437 laws and 214 regulations against such beautiful houses. 0,000001 % of the local common underwater bugs just can´t use their legs and move someplace else when they will build the new house. There will also be unnecessary extra traffic to the house, which will of course melt the ice and drown the earth and whole friggin earth will collapse in nanosecond. Yeah, that´s exactly what´s going to happen.

Cloudbusting 100

100? Should it be different or just the same old? Well, same old it is. I´ve seen recently lot of cloud-photos with exotic palm trees in silhouette. Palms are so exotic to me, I never see them. Sometimes indoors something small. I got lots of pines here though. I have to use pines as I can´t get any exotic palms, unless I do some serious clipart-editing.

Cloudbusting 99

A scene from my viewing place towards Houtskar
on a hill about 30 meters above the sea level
I would have liked to fit more of it in same pic
but there was too much to fit for my tiny camera

Under the hill there is lot of cottages
right next to each other on the shore
Young people grill
blast music from their iPods and cellphones
shout at each other "FUCK YOU DUMMY"
(teenage language is swefinglish here)
It has a calming effect on me
this is not inhabited area after all

Cloudbusting 98

Had to stop on the highway to catch this one. This kind of cloud covered almost the whole sky. It never rained, or maybe there were some tiny drops during the day. Driving is fun as long as it´s in summertime, it doesn´t rain a lot and drive is about 2,5 hours at max. Price of gas is around 1,5 EUR/Litre or 9 dollars/gallon, so I´m happy to drive longer mostly in summertime and take a bus to work in winter.

Cloudbusting 97

I saw this giant sign coming towards me across the sea. It´s a sign of something, but I don´t know what yet. I rotated it around to see if there was something I missed. Original direction is lower right.

.--- = J in morse. J does what?
3. = 3 is your lucky number STOP.
.3 = I´m using only 0.3 of my full capacity (1.0)
Dinner is ready, go that way!

Maybe it will become clear to me as time goes by.

Cloudbusting 96

Mackarel skies, mackarel skies
and then some
and then some more
That´s the real summer cloud
It´s an easy cloud to shot
they move so slow
This one had a good pattern
like it was painted to the ceiling
with a large brush

Cloudbusting 95

Lying on the tall grass barefoot
Days flow by with a comatose pace
Reading Naomi Klein´s The Shock Doctrine
What a lovely summer read, eh eh
That horror world is far far away
I have so few real worries
My camera produced a huge black spot
and I have to crop 30% off from each pic or edit it away
I have hundreds of pics and that means
I can endlessly surf on the faded memory of summer
during the dark days of winter
This was a short but random selection of thoughts
I get myself together next time
